Living Legacy July 23, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — cfbcreunion @ 4:40 am

As we come together for the reunion, some from across town and others from around the country, we’ll be reminded of the many different paths our individual lives have taken. Many days have passed since Senior Sunday when we walked into the auditorium with our class, a rainbow of different colors filling the aisles. Many choices have been made since that last official day we were in the youth group. There were jobs taken, moves made, weddings, births, joys, and losses. No two people have taken the exact same road, but we all share one common thread – the deposits made in us during the most critical years of our lives. The investments from youth ministers, Sunday School teachers, volunteers and peers have breathed life in so many of us. Their care for us, along with listening ears and thoughtfully spoken words, have guided us. We are the beneficiaries of prayers prayed that we didn’t even know about, lessons studied, rolls taken. There were T-shirts counted, bus tires changed, “lights out” enforced and pizzas ordered. And we came – to laugh, learn, forget, grow, change, eat, give, escape, heal, pray, connect, receive. And we left- never the same again. We walk out a living legacy that is bigger than one person, one youth group, one church – it is the never-ending beautiful story of Christ and His working in the world, one person at a time.

We are in the process of finding host homes for the Saturday Evening Socials. You can still plan your own thing for Sat evening, but we thought we would provide some options to make it easier. We thought this would be a good time to get together in smaller groups, according to the years you were active in the youth group.

The Chamblisses will host the Doug Wood Era. (More info and directions to come)

The Harpoles will host the John Wills Era.

The Peelers will host the Mike Taylor Era.
